Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway
Travel the eight miles of our track from either main station, Welshpool Raven Square or Llanfair Caereinion. The narrow gauge track winds along the Banwy valley and then through rolling Welsh countryside. The railway is steam powered and most of our locomotives are over 120 years old. This is a heritage railway, largely run by volunteers. Llanfair Caereinion has a traditional tearoom with delicious soups, cake, sandwiches and more.
There are special events throughout the year including character events, the Carrot Express ( at Easter), Fish & Chips trains , Afternoon Teas, our Steam Gala, Beer and Cider Festival, Teddy Bear's picnic and Santa Specials.
