Wendy Nugent - piano recital
Wendy Nugent is no stranger to the Middlewich and District Concerts Society concerts. However, this will be the first time she has given us a solo piano recital. To mark the occasion she will be playing on a grand piano!
Her programme starts with an arrangement of a Bach Oboe concerto and finishes with three pieces by Billy Mayerl (Nimble Fingered Gentleman, Shallow Waters and Sweet William), so you can guess at the range of styles involved. The heavy-weight piece is Beethoven's Pathetique sonata, eagerly awaited. There are lots of shorter classical gems as well - a Chopin Nocturne, the Debussy Arabesques, one each of Schubert's Impromptus and of Liszt's Consolations, and three Preludes by Rachmaninov. There is also Paul Mealor's The Infinite Meadows of Heaven. Who knows what else might turn up? A concert definitely not to be missed.
