Britain's What's On Event Guide
A celebration of Wroxeter Roman City's Social and Cultural History
Presented by Doctor Roger White, University of Birmingham
It is a remarkable fact that Wroxeter in Shropshire, site of the Roman town of Viriconium, has a rich tradition of responses to its archaeology from poets, artists, writers and even musicians. This is unusual, especially for Roman sites, and this lecture explores both the diversity of material, and why the site has been so engaging over the centuries. It draws upon the lecturer's more than 40-year engagement with the site.
Talk commences at 7-30pm
