About this Event
Lucy Nolan - Harp Recital
This will be Lucy Nolan's third appearance at the Middlewich and District Concerts Society's concerts in three years! Perhaps that is because she is a consummate harpist and an excellent communicator, enthusiastically explaining the background to pieces and adding interesting technical details. And the sound of the harp seems to take us to places other instruments cannot reach.
The programme for this concert is quite extensive, ranging from heavy weights like Paul Hindemith's Sonata for Harp and the Fantasia for Harp by Louis Spohr, through familiar pieces like Clair de Lune, to Scottish Folk Music by Ailie Robertson and Catriona McKay. The full programme is listed on the web-site (madcs.org.uk). Although for most of the programme she will use the pedal harp there will also be opportunities to hear its smaller cousin, the lever harp or clarsach. The two harps require different techniques and take us to different sound worlds. Something for everyone? We hope so!
