Oboe and Piano recital
It is 10 years since David Cowdy (oboe) and David Jones (piano) first played for the Middlewich and District Concerts Society. They returned in 2018 to give another fascinating recital, exploring some of the less well-known parts of the repertoire, always accompanied by informed introductions. So it is no surprise that we have asked them to play for us again.
Their programme for this concert is quite extensive, ranging from a Siciliana attributed to JS Bach to David Cowdy's Avian Sketches. The full programme is listed on the web-site and includes music by Jacques Ibert, Darrol Barry, Olivier Messiaen and William Grant Still. And that is just in the first half! After the interval we will hear pieces by Michael Head, Edward Elgar, Tönu Körvits, Ennio Morricone and Madeleine Dring. That must represent an extraordinary range of styles. Something for everyone? We hope so!
