Acclaimed clarinettist Emma Johnson, in a welcome return to Pinner, brings us her Clarinet Celebration, performing with Gregory Drott (piano).
The concert opens with Mozart Variations (from the Clarinet Quintet) and Robert Schumann’s Fantasy Piece, then the Impetuoso from Rebecca Clarke’s Viola Sonata, arranged for clarinet, and Poulenc’s brilliant Sonata for the instrument.
In part two, a selection from the Suite for Emma, written for her by John Dankworth, is followed by Minehaha’s Lament by Dvorák. The evening rounds off with a great mix of jazz pieces, including Petite Fleur, Black Bottom Stomp, and medleys by Duke Ellington & Benny Goodman. A great night’s entertainment.
This concert is part of the Music in Pinner 24/25 season.
