Christmas Event & Buffet with Bob Tuxford AFC
Our 2022 Christmas Event & Buffet will take place on Saturday 3 December at Hawkwell Village Hall, Essex SS5 4EH.
We are delighted to welcome as our guest speaker Squadron Leader Bob Tuxford AFC, who was captain of the Victor which was the last of the outbound refuelling tankers on the first Black Buck raid in the 1982 Falklands conflict.
It was Bob and his crew that made the final air-to-air refuelling ‘hook up’ with Vulcan XM607, before the Vulcan continued on its own, southwards towards the Falkland Islands. The mission was not without its difficulties, though, which Bob will recall in his talk!
He will also speak more about his long career in aviation, which included time with the USAF's Strategic Air Command and as a test pilot at the Empire Test Pilots’ School at Boscombe Down.
Bob has written a book about his career: CONTACT! and he will have copies with him to sign and sell.
Admission includes a buffet lunch, with tea, coffee and mince pies. There will also be a licensed pay bar selling beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks.
