About this Event
Rossini Petite Messe Solonelle and Verdi Stabat Mater
Wooburn singers are performing two contrasting works for our spring concert, in the beautiful medieval church in Old Amersham.
Rossini's Petite Messe Solonelle has been described as “the finest work of Rossini’s later years. With piano and harmonium and four soloists, it is far from Petite and not exactly solemn either and is an excellent listen.
Verdi’s Stabat Mater, the last of his Four Sacred Pieces, has been described as “a mixture of the purity and simplicity of the sixteenth century version of Palestrina, with the drama and pathos of Il Trovatore”
