Glass Fusing: Weaving and Lattice Technique
Create a stunningly beautiful glass decoration while also learning a new skill
For this project you will be able to create either a Lattice design piece or glass weaving and depending on time and the nature of your project you might be able to do both.
For the lattice design you will design and cut different shapes to create a lattice pattern. There are many options which will be discussed. This will then be prepared ready for fusing and slumping.
For the woven technique we will use alternating pre-fused glass strips and weave them with a ‘web and weave’ into a permanent shape which will be fused and then slumped into a mould to create a desired shape in the form of a platter, if you wish. Suitable moulds will be discussed and prepared for this process.
During both these projects you will also be able to develop your glass cutting skills, colour theory and familiarize yourself with the use of a strip cutter.
Both these projects are suitable for a further firing to create a shallow dish or you might just wish to use it as a serving platter or decorative panel.
