Classics@Two - Meliora Collective
For the 500th concert of the Harris Music Club in Preston, we are promoting a special concert by and for younger people. The Meliora is a collective of 10 musicians who graduated during the lockdown years and are trying to get back on track in their careers. In this concert they have chosen their own programme, which is wholly by living composers, and is sure to be a varied and interesting experience.
Programme:
~ Ngarrgooroon (a nonet by Deborah Cheetham) evoking the Australian outback,
~ Entr'acte (a very modern string quartet by Caroline Shaw)
~ Red Clay and Mississippi Delta (a wind quintet merging classical with jazz elements)
~ En Saga (a septet arrangement of an orchestral piece by Jean Sibelius)
