Musica Antica present two beautiful early 17th Century comedies: Adriano Banchieri's (1568-1634) Barca di Venezia per Padova (The Barge from Venice to Padua) - a madrigal satire of early 17th Century Venice - and extracts from Stefano Landi's (1587-1639) tragicomic opera La Morte d'Orfeo, in which Orpheus, murdered for not inviting Bacchus to his birthday party, is reunited with his wife Eurydice only to find that she's forgotten who he is.
