Helping Pets North East
Helping Pets North East will be joining us for the day to help raise awareness and much needed funds to help stray and unwanted animals.
Helping Pets (North-East) is run entirely by volunteers…
“We do not have kennels or a cattery. All our animals are placed into foster homes with a volunteer, this means we can more accurately advise which home would suit an animal in our care. We take in ‘at risk‘ pets, many of whom are being given away ‘free to a good home‘. We also take in animals at the owners request if they feel they can no longer care for them.
We are part of the ‘Trap, Neuter and Release’ scheme to try and control feral colonies in the area. Feral colonies can spread disease such as FELV and FIV and also deformed/ill kittens can be produced. This is quite costly but we feel it is very worthwhile.”
Helping Pets North East was started 11 years ago by Vicki, a Registered Veterinary Nurse who runs her own Vet Nurse business. Prior to this she was helping as many animals as she could but realised how great the need was, this was why she created the charity.
On the day, Helping Pets North East will have a tombola, scoop the poop, pin the tail on the dog, hook a dog and raffles with some fabulous animal related prizes.
Please drop by to say hello, find out more about the work they do and maybe sign up as a volunteer.
This is a free event starting at 10:00 and finishing at 15:30
