Identifying Dragonflies and Damselflies at Attenborough Nature Reserve

Join Dave Goddard who is a national expert in invertebrates for an ID course on Dragonflies and Damselflies.

Attenborough Nature Reserve is teeming with these magnificent creatures during the warmer months. Recorded species include Banded Demoiselle, Emerald and Small Red-eyed Damselfly, Emperor Dragonfly and Brown, Migrant and Southern Hawkers.

This course will begin in the conference room at Attenborough Nature Centre for an introductory session on dragonflies and damselflies. After lunch Dave will lead a guided walk around the reserve to begin identifying in the field. The walk will be packed with tips and tricks to help you spot keys signs to tell different species apart. Participants of all abilities are welcome – from complete beginners to those looking to expand their knowledge.

The course includes refreshments and a buffet lunch. All our food is made fresh on the premises using locally sourced ingredients where possible. Our cakes and sweet treats are supplied by two independent, local businesses – Beeston Brownies and Homemade Café.

With 48 hours' notice, we can cater for most dietary and allergy needs. Please get in touch using the contact form if you have any questions or to inform us of any specific requirements/requests.
