Sashiko Otedama Hand Sewing with Caroline Barley
Otedama Hand-sewing - Filled pattern weights or toys with Caroline Barley on Saturday 9th September 2023
In this workshop, join Caroline in a hitomezashi sashiko workshop. Create a set of otedama using a traditional pattern and method of cutting and stitching small fabric pieces (new or preloved). Decorate with hitomezashi sashiko stitching. Otedama were originally bean-filled fabric juggling balls for children. Use them as pattern weights in your sewing projects or as a gift for children or friends. Also create a drawstring bag to keep the otedama, decorated with hitomezashi sashiko stitching. Learn a little about Japanese culture, seasonal influences and hear about Caroline's experiences of living in Japan and learning from skilled craftspeople.
Come along and enjoy a peaceful day of stitchery with Caroline.
In addition to spending your time crafting, Tudor Rose Patchwork offers a special lunchtime menu at O For Coffee for students. You can choose from a selection of jacket potatoes, sandwiches, paninis, toasties and soups.
