Britain's What's On Event Guide
One Man, Two Guvnors
It is Brighton in 1963 and out-of-work Francis Henshaw finds employment with two separate men – Roscoe Crabbe, a gangster, and Stanley Stubbers, an upper-class twit! Francis desperately attempts to avoid his two employers meeting so that neither discovers he is working for the other. To complicate events, Roscoe is actually Rachel Crabbe, his twin sister in disguise. And Roscoe has been killed by Rachel’s boyfriend – who is none other than Stanley! Further confusion arises when local mobster Charlie the Duck arranges his daughter Pauline’s engagement to Roscoe (now actually Rachel) despite her preference for over-the-top actor Alan Dangle! Sounds complicated, but this has all the ingredients of a really funny farce and a great way to open our 76th season
