Talk: The Kennet and Avon Canal: Connecting with Wildlife
Our waterways are a vital network for wildlife across the countryside, especially near villages and towns. The Kennet and Avon Canal is a thriving corridor for nature and people linking important wetland sites along the Kennet Valley.
Join Roger Stace, the BBOWT Land Manager for West Berkshire, to learn about the wildlife that lives on and around the canal, including special places like Thatcham Reedbeds. It will be an informal and informative talk, illustrated with plenty of photographs helping you to learn about the wildlife that is there, where you can find it and how you can help to protect these beautiful places.
Roger Stace has worked for the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust (BBOWT) for almost 20 years starting out as a volunteer and is now the Land Manager for West Berkshire. Roger manages local nature reserves and commons including Greenham & Crookham Commons, Bowdown Woods, Snelsmore Common and Thatcham Reedbeds. He has a keen interest in birds, butterflies and especially moths.
This talk is to tie-in with the Waterways special exhibition.
