Four of Britain’s leading baroque music specialists come together for a delectable programme built around Corelli’s violin sonatas. They were incredibly popular across Europe and dominated Italian instrumental music throughout the 18th century. Since then, violinists have revelled in the sonatas’ decorative possibilities, each discovering their own unique style. In his early years in Rome, the young Handel was deeply influenced by Corelli and Alessandro Scarlatti who led the city’s richly creative musical life.
