Blueberries For The Rainbow

An unmissable new play on Motherhood brought to you by emerging playwright Hazel Fattorusso and award-winning Theatre Director Samantha Pears.

Motherhood. It’s hard. But does anyone ever tell you how hard? The sleepless nights. The endless expectations. The feelings of failure. The baby sick hiding in your hair on the school run.

But what if a mum was really struggling. Would the people closest to her even notice? Would anybody even care, as long as the children are ok?

BLUEBERRIES FOR THE RAINBOW is a feverish, funny and heartbreaking look at what happens when one mother's needs are neglected and the devastating consequences of always being put to the bottom of the pile.

It’s just a normal morning for mums Loretta and Catherine, until Loretta suddenly, and unexpectedly, disappears in the middle of Catherine’s visit, leaving behind her four-month-old baby.

Can the three people closest to Loretta work why she left her perfect life, perfect husband and two perfect children, before it’s too late?

With a cast of four, the play jumps back through time to see what has happened in the 402 days
since Loretta conceived her second child, which may have led to this catastrophic event.

And how, through societal changes, more awareness and better care for mothers, this may have been prevented.

Exploring the themes of postnatal depression, the thick blanket of silence that continues to
surround it, and the impact this has on pre and postnatal mothers, BLUEBERRIES FOR THE
RAINBOW is an insightful look into modern motherhood.
