Britain's What's On Event Guide
Concert of classical music
We invite you to an evening of classical music favourites and seasonal Christmas music performed by our talented choir and orchestra, conducted by James Ross and chorus master Crispin Lewis, and led by Philippa Hanson. Brahms' Variations on a Theme by Haydn starts our programme. The theme, usually known as the St Anthony Chorale was originally attributed to Haydn, but that is now known to be incorrect. The statement of the Theme is followed by eight short variations and concluded with the Finale. A delightful and and well-loved piece! We continue with Franz Schubert's Mass in C which follows the usual form of Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, Benedictus, and Agnus Dei for choir, soloists and orchestra. We will conclude with an Overture on French Carols by Philip Lane, and traditional Carols for orchestra and congregation.
This traditional seasonal concert is for all the family, we look forward to seeing you there.
