We welcome back the brilliant young horn player Ben Goldscheider and his all-star trio in a programme that begins and ends with two classics of chamber music for French horn. Mozart’s beautiful quintet is here arranged for trio with piano. As a horn player’s son, Brahms had a special affection for the instrument and his magnificent trio is the result. Pianist Huw Watkins is also one of Britain’s foremost composers; his short horn trio is both lyrical and urgently dynamic, making a fine contrast with the lush English romanticism of Ruth Gipps.
