PROGRESS Chapter 161: Unboxing VI And A Movie
Unboxing PROGRESS Wrestling is one of the most unpredictable nights of wrestling in Europe, but what exactly is it? Let us take you on a trip under the learning tree…
PROGRESS Wrestling was created in 2012 and played a huge part in the boom of British wrestling on these shores, with a rabid fanbase forming for the first promotion to properly run London for years. It was a bold tactic, but it paid off as fans were soon travelling to London from other parts of the UK and even abroad for the shows at The Garage or the Electric Ballroom.
A big part of the reason for the success was the incredible talent that the UK was bringing through in the early years of PROGRESS Wrestling from Will Ospreay, to Mark Haskins to Mark Andrews and Noam Dar. Once the world started to sit up and take notice, import wrestlers became a familiar thing and worlds collided to make an unbelievable talent pool at PROGRESS’ disposal.
During the boom, it was decided that something fresh and annual was needed and in 2016, the owners came up with Unboxing Progress Wrestling. A show inspired by PWG’s Mystery Vortex shows where no matches are announced ahead of time and fans buy a ticket without knowing the card, to be surprised in each and every match adding an air of excitement and unpredictability.
This year PROGRESS Wrestling is breaking the norm with Simon Miller using his influence to announce his street fight with Tate Mayfairs exactly a year after he was cheated out of a victory by his nemesis at Chapter 147. Rules are sometimes meant to broken…
