Britain's What's On Event Guide
Peter Knight and John Spiers Concert and Improvisation Workshop
Two of the UK’s most influential folk musicians, Peter Knight, who was part of Steeleye Span’s classic 1970s line-up, and John Spiers, co-founder of multi-award-winning band Bellowhead, will be performing and teaching in Guildford on Saturday 17 February. This will be the first time Knight and Spiers have performed as a duo in Guildford. They are also offering musicians the only opportunity on their Spring tour to spend an illuminating few hours with them in the afternoon for a workshop on improvisation. Both the workshop and concert will be taking place in the beautiful, historic St Mary’s Church.
What to expect: The pairing of violin and melodeon is not a new one, but in the hands of Knight and Spiers, improvisation and invention meet the listener at every turn. These uniquely gifted musicians make a sublime pairing, and create a live performance to be remembered for a long time.
“Peter Knight can spin the world on his bow” Sir Terry Pratchett
John Spiers - “A blend of elegant, rhythmic and virtuoso playing and easygoing folk club banter. A quiet triumph” The Guardian
