Ely Open Gardens - Open Garden for NGS
A delightful and varied group of gardens in an historic cathedral city: The Bishop's House, adjoining Ely Cathedral, has mixed planting and formal rose garden bordered by wisteria. 12 Chapel Street, a small town garden, shows varied gardening interests, from alpines to herbaceous plants and shrubs and a railway! 1 Merlin Drive and 1 Robins Close are modern estate gardens. The former has a collection of subtropical plants, and ferns, the latter has raised beds, vegetables and a small dry garden. 5b Downham Road a small garden shows how careful planting can create a tranquil garden in a challenging plot. 42 Cambridge Road is a long garden with many features, from fig trees at one end to a town vegetable plot at the other.
