Dorchester Gardens - Open Garden for NGS
Three contrasting gardens in a historic village close to the medieval abbey, which is now the parish church. 26 Manor Farm Rd (OX10 7HZ) was part of old, larger, partially walled garden, which now has a formal lawn and planting, vegetable garden, greenhouse and several interesting trees. From the yew hedge towards the River Thame is an apple orchard underplanted with spring bulbs. 6 Monks Close (OX10 7JA) is idyllic and surprising. Small spring-fed stream and sloping lawn surrounded by naturalistic planting runs down to monastic fish pond. Bridges over deep pond lead to River Thame. Dorchester Manor House (OX10 7HZ)Two acre garden set around Georgian house (not open) and medieval abbey.
