Castle Acre Gardens - Open Garden for NGS
Castle Acre is an attractive historic Norman village with a bailey gate, castle, earthworks, parish church and priory. Set in the countryside of West Norfolk, there is a bookshop, pub, tearoom, shop and playground. The four delightful gardens that vary in planting, size, style and structure, will provide visitors with much interest and inspiration. Tudor Lodgings, has a two acre garden that fronts a C15 house and incorporates part of the Norman earthworks. C18 dovecote, topiary, and lawns, with borders of shrubs, perennials and grasses, a productive fruit cage and cutting garden. The wild area has a pond, ducks and chickens. Just up the road is Ormonde House, a small walled rear garden facing south with mixed shrubs, perennials, and annuals.
