Capriol Chamber Orchestra Spring Concert
Capriol Chamber Orchestra is pleased to announce that our first concert of 2024 will be on Saturday 10th February at Holy Trinity Church, Stroud at 7.30pm.
Our programme will include the overture from Schone Melusine by Mendelssohn, Weber’s Clarinet Concerto No. 1, with guest soloist Christopher Gibbons, Elgar’s Dream Children and St. Anthony Variations by Brahms.
Our soloist Chris Gibbons is a clarinettist, conductor and music educator. He grew up in Gloucestershire and studied music at Cardiff University, moving to Manchester in 2014 to study solo performance at the Royal Northern College of Music, graduating with a distinction in his MMus. He was awarded a scholarship to undertake further study at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where he completed his Post Graduate Diploma, again with a distinction.
Chris has performed with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales both live in concert and for television recording sessions, and with the Orchestra of the Welsh National Opera. He enjoys a busy freelance career as a performer, and recently played for the touring production of Robert Fokkens’ monodrama, Bhekezizwe. Chris has worked with Judith Weir, Krzysztof Penderecki and Jonathan Dove and is a visiting tutor of clarinet and saxophone at Marlborough College,
Tickets £12 (£10 for people in full time education, on Universal Credit, Job Seekers Allowance, or Income Support), £1 reduction on tickets purchased prior to concert evening. Children under 16 free.
