Organ rectal Come and celebrate the newly restored organ
The organ is an incredibly good example of the work carried out by the renowned organ builder JJ Binns
It was installed in the church in July 1905 at the behest of the then Rector The Revd Cecil Bromley.
The cost was £520. The parish could not afford this even though they managed to raise half the money. The project was only made possible by the other half of the cost which was met by a generous donation from Andrew Carnegie, the American industrialist and philanthropist..
The parish has just completed some restoration work on the blower and as a result the organ is sounding better than ever.
In order to celebrate, and to thank those who have generously donated towards the cost,
we have organised a feast of organ music.
The recital will be given by local and other talented organists
The concert will last about an hour and a half with an interval during which prosecco and nibbles will be served.
There is no charge but any donations will be gratefully received
Al;l are welcome.
Visiting organists are welcome to try the organ after the concert.
