Big Band Special: Nick Care BIG Band with Nikki Iles & Mark Armstrong
Romping, stomping, exhilarating, beautiful and inspiring big band music ranging from Ellington to Iles and the music of today.
Nick Care BIG Band members, fresh from their sell out concert at Aylesbury’s Waterside Theatre, are mainly alumni of Aylesbury Music Centre Big Band who performed at numerous famous venues, including the North Sea Jazz Festival four times, the London Palladium, Buckingham Palace and TV and radio, including four BBC Big Band competition prize-winners’ concerts. The Waterside concert in 2023 raised £15,000 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association following Nick Care's death in 2020.
Mark Armstrong is director of NYJO and Jazz professor at RCM has played with many greats, including Stan and Clark Tracey and Pete Long.
Nikki Iles has worked with Claire Martin, Kenny Wheeler, Peter King and Dave Holland and accolades include BT British Jazz, Ivor Novello and British Jazz and Parliamentary Jazz Awards as well the British Empire Medal for services to music.
