Allison Lupton Band (music)

Allison Lupton hails from the heart of rural Ontario where her love for music took root while singing in church choirs and learning jigs and reels at sessions. From playing for community dances to soloing with orchestras, Allison has found her voice as a singer, flute player and song writer after more than a quarter century performing in Canada and abroad. Along the way Allison has received accolades from international press and radio as well as her peers at home with multiple Canadian Folk Music Award nominations including “Traditional Singer of the Year”.

Allison is now touring her celebrated fourth solo album “Words of Love” joined by a stellar group of musicians including legendary Celtic guitar maestro Tony McManus, Grand North American Fiddle Champion Shane Cook, CCBA Mandolinist of the Year Andrew Collins and bass virtuoso Joe Phillips. Each musician brings their own influences to the band creating a beautiful fusion of Celtic, bluegrass, roots and more.

Live shows confirm the depth of talent in a glorious mix of dazzling contemporary and traditional instrumentals and songs always united by the band’s often humorous and charming introductions and stories. Woven through performances are Allison’s original songs which fit so perfectly into the cannon of Canadian folk music that they could easily be mistaken for traditional numbers. Together this all-star band carries audiences away to another time and place then dances them home again.

“All of the tracks on this album are an absolute delight and are all brought to life with Allison’s beautiful voice. An album to savour.” – Rory Stanbridge, Fatea Magazine
