Not Such Stuff
NOT SUCH STUFF
by Chris Wind
Performed by Creative Curve theatre Company
Directed by Lorraine Spenceley
Set in a wine bar “Not Such Stuff” is a series of interwoven soliloquies, in which Shakespeare’s female characters have the chance address their lot, in their own words without the help of male quill. What does Juliet really think of Romeo? What did Lear do to Regan? Why does Kate submit to Petruccio? If you have ever wondered why Shakespeare’s women behave the way they do “Not Such Stuff” may give you some answers.
Creative Curve Theatre Company is a self funding company set up in 2014 and the first performance was “Brandy” at St John’s, Waterloo. At the Edinburgh Festival and at the Camden Festival in 2019 “Brandy” received several 4 star reviews. In 2018 “The Blitz Herstory” and 2020 “The Women of Waterloo” were performance as part of the Waterloo Heritage Weekend. In 2023 the one woman show “The Woman He Lived With” was performed at South London Theatre, St John’s and Wickham Theatre Trust. The ethos of the company is the re – telling of history from the women’s perspective. Herstory as oppose to History.
