Spring Concert - Pergolesi and and Vivaldi
Join us for an evening of Baroque sacred music as the Royal Free Choir and the Belsize Baroque Orchestra pay homage to the enduring legacies of Pergolesi and Vivaldi.
Transport yourself to the 18th century as the venue fills with the emotive strains of Pergolesi's Stabat Mater. Written in 1736, this poignant work delves into the sorrowful narrative of Mary at the crucifixion of Jesus. Through expressive vocal lines and sensitive orchestration, Pergolesi's composition captures the essence of spiritual reflection and musical finesse.
Following the introspective journey of Stabat Mater, immerse yourself in the jubilant melodies of Vivaldi's Gloria. Composed in the early 18th century, Vivaldi's Gloria RV589 radiates with joyful exuberance, and its lively rhythms and vibrant orchestration evoke a sense of celebration and praise.
The doors will open at 6:45pm, and the concert will start at 7:00pm. There will be an interval with refreshments.
