Grayshott Folk Club introduces: SAM KELLY & JAMIE FRANCIS
This gig was originally planned for June 2023 but shortly before the gig was due to take place, Sam became seriously ill and was hospitalised. Fortunately, with the right medication and wonderful NHS care, he recovered quickly and resumed his 2023 tour with Jamie. We are delighted these two top young Folk musicians are coming to Grayshott after all.
Both musicians are members of the incredible Sam Kelly and The Lost Boys (who were nominated for Best Group at the 2018 BBC Radio 2 Folk awards) and they have played together since their University days in Brighton in 2010.
Sam Kelly is a guitarist, singer, song writer, producer and multi-instrumentalist. as well as being a regular member of Kate Rusby's touring band, Sam has played alongside Seth Lakeman, Kris Drever, Phil Beer and John McCusker.
Jamie Francis is also an excellent guitar player but in this duo, he plays the banjo. He has also played alongside Seth Lakeman, Cara Dillon and Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman, to name but a few.
These guys are great musicians who perform inventive interpretations of traditional songs and tunes, as well as toe-tapping original compositions. They like to mix it up a bit with funny anecdotes and storiesof their misdaventures on the road......
