Sheffield Skeptics in the Pub
Sheffield Skeptics in the Pub was founded in December 2009 and is a good way for people from all walks of life to hear from experts and discuss with them important issues that affect us all, while enjoying their favourite beverage. Meetings are held every third Monday of the month at Farm Road Sports & Social Club, Farm Road, Sheffield S2 2TP.
Our March 2024 event is a presentation by Roger Butlin, Professor of Evolutionary Biology at the University of Sheffield, and is titled 'What can Snails Tell us about Evolution?'
From Roger: 'I will describe how a humble periwinkle can tell us a lot about controversial evolutionary processes, especially the origin of new innovations and the splitting process that results in new species. These processes are relevant to the evolution of many species, including humans.'
This event is on Monday March18th at 7.30 pm. There is no need to book, and there is no entrance fee, but a voluntary donation of £3 is welcome to cover speaker’s expenses and room hire. Free carpark. Come early to avoid queuing at the bar.
