In The Mood – 1940s Cabaret
The popular 1940s cabaret ‘In The Mood’ returns for another evening of entertainment from that most famous of decades.
This event is a spin off from the annual 1940s Big Band Blitz dance gala that was staged between 2000 and 2019, and had a special feature in BBCs Strictly Come Dancing in November 2009.
Our 2024 cabaret production will feature some of the best songs / music from the 1940s, brought to you by The Bob Haddrell Band plus a host of ‘showbiz’ guest vocalists, a touch of comedy from Viv the Spiv, and a few surprises. This will be a very special 1940s night of entertainment.
Among the featured ‘showbiz’ guest singers will be the acclaimed jazz vocalist and television impressionist, Esta Rae (Who Do You Do for Central Television); the excellent vocalist Nicola Anne; award winning musical theatre star Guillaume Borkhataria; plus the ever popular comedian Ian Dawson as Viv the Spiv, the man with the black market goods, whose many appearances have included the London Palladium.
And there will be a touch of authentic Piaf with the return of the critically acclaimed Susan Black, who appeared alongside Dame Shirley Bassey, and was described by the Stage as ‘an International Diva with a voice that can fill the Albert Hall without a microphone’.
Plus there will be the ‘showbiz’ Charity Raffle with all proceeds being donated to the Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity.
This will be a night to remember. Enjoy your return to the 1940s.
