Ably conducted by James Davy, the Singers return to the classical canon with a performance of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Solemn Vespers, which includes the famous Laudate Dominum. They will provide a second helping of Mozart in the form of Regina Coeli (KV276), and complement this with Felix Mendelssohn’s Lauda Sion, an 8-movement work originally commissioned by a Belgian church in the 18th century. Brentwood Cathedral's organist, Stephen King, will accompany them on the organ. They will be joined by a quartet of excellent soloists including the soprano Jessica Edom-Carey.
James Davy has been director of The Chelmsford Singers since 2012 when he was appointed Director of Music at Chelmsford Cathedral and is currently pursuing a freelance career as an organist and conductor across East Anglia.
