SCO Summer Tour 2024: Soirée Parisienne
The richness of the Romantic era combines with French lightness of touch for an irresistible programme.
Chaminade and Widor put the flute and clarinet in the limelight, after which both instruments come together for Saint-Saëns’ equally delightful Tarantella – bringing the dance theme begun by Fauré full circle. We finish with Farrenc’s Symphony No 3, a powerful work that demands to be rediscovered.
Kindly supported by Eriadne & George Mackintosh and Claire & Anthony Tait.
