Newport Music Club introduce the 'Flutes and Frets Duo'
The Club is always keen to give a platform to young talented musicians, and with the support of ‘Making Music’s’ Philip & Dorothy Green Young Artists award scheme we have been enabled to fulfil this aim.
Beth Stone and Danny Murphy founded the Duo in March 2021 after first collaborating at the Royal College of Music. They are passionate about showing the versatility of the flute and plucked instruments combination.
They have performed numerous recitals in various locations across the UK. Notable concerts include the London International Early Music Festival, the Lichfield Young Artist’s Concert Series and performing at the National Gallery. They were thrilled to be awarded the first prize for the 2021 La Follia Nuova International Chamber Music Competition.
The concert will explore humanity through music from the past 500 years. Society and culture has changed but the essence and patterns of life remains the same: - birth, love, family, death. The programme includes works by Prokofiev, Liszt, Piazzolla, Bartók, Purcell and Ravel.
Concert starts at 7.00 p.m. Doors open at 6.30 p.m.
Ticket prices: Adults: £15; Children/students £5; Available beforehand from ‘Bobby's Bistro’ and ‘Hey Jude’ in Newport, or at the Door on the night (payment by cash or cheque only).
Contact the Music Club via chairman@newportmusicclub.org or phone 07726 959233 to confirm the number of adults and children tickets you would like to reserve.
