Britain's What's On Event Guide
Animal Magic
The Yorkshire Philharmonic Choir present their summer concert with a difference this year.
Under the over arching title of ‘Animal Magic’ they will be featuring 2 short and famously light- hearted works:
Captain Noah and his Floating Zoo by Michael Flanders & Joseph Horovitz
Aesop’s Fables. By Bob Chilcott.
The concert will feature the choir performing these works with 3 Primary Schools and The Wakefield Youth Choir, who will bring not only additional fun and enthusiasm but also some artwork and other presentations to enhance the performance.
The entire concert will be about 1 hour in length and will be performed twice in the late afternoon at 4.00pm (particularly featuring the Primary aged children) and at 6.00pm featuring the Youth choir.
This will be a superbly presented staging of these highly amusing works in the elegant nave space
of Wakefield Cathedral. An event designed to introduce a new audience, including lots of young
people, to choral music. However, although short, both works present different and considerable
challenges to the performers whether novices or experienced singers.
Featuring:
The Yorkshire Philharmonic Choir
Young singers from Wakefield Youth Choir and Wakefield Primary Schools
Neil Balfour (Baritone)
Jazz trio, featuring Alex Woodrow on piano
Conducted by Thom Meredith
An ideal musical event for a summer afternoon, so please come along and enjoy the fun.
