Meet The Maker
Come and meet Louise Hobson at the Heritage Centre for one of our ‘Meet the Maker’ events.
Louise is an artist based in County Durham, making art using printmaking, drawing, and painting techniques.
“Having always been deeply connected to the natural world, and very aware of the magic, abundance, and wildness, I seek to communicate this appreciation through my work. I don’t aim to capture exact likeness but aim to illustrate the fleeting moments and beauty I witness and to share this with the world.
I prefer to work with drawing to allow for spontaneity and intuitive mark making. My drawings are translated into linocut as the meditative process of cutting the plate and making the print allows time for contemplation and the stages of making remind me of rhythms repeated within nature.
As well as making my own work I have taught A Level Art, led adult community art workshops, and used my creativity as a SEN Tutor.”
A selection of Louise’s work is available to purchase for a 2 week period in our shop from Saturday 13th April, or directly from her on her Meet the Maker day on Saturday 27th April.
