Britain's What's On Event Guide
Grand Summer Ceilidh (Barn Dance)
Formed in 2015, 'Banter' comprise four fine musicians whose roots are firmly in the traditional English genre, but who enjoy stretching the limits. Between them their musical offering includes melodeon, keyboards, drums, percussion, brass, bass, fiddle, guitar, vocals and dance calling. Although just four people, they create a huge sound and have been described as the 'world’s smallest big band'.
Having gained a reputation for being powerfully unique, their popularity grew rapidly, placing them in great demand to perform at many of the UK’s largest festivals including: Glastonbury, Cambridge, Broadstairs, Sidmouth, Whitby, Oxford, Wickham and Towersey Festivals, as well as internationally at European festivals – and with a 4th album released this year!
‘Banter were absolutely fantastic… such beautiful harmonies and great playing’
'....infectious… genre hopping… mixing Morris tunes, soulful vocals and raucous chorus songs into a concert headliner'
'Imaginative combination of musical styles and inventive playing…'
And now they come to Old Basing and The Basingstoke Lions Club! Aren't we the lucky ones!
