Britain's What's On Event Guide
Paris 1924
To mark this summer's Paris Olympics, Temenos Chamber Choir, conducted by Patrick Craig, presents a concert of French sacred music written by composers living in Paris in 1924, where the Olympics were held exactly 100 years ago (of Chariots of Fire fame).
Composers such as Vierne, Widor, Poulenc and Faure, were all part of the rich musical scene in Paris at that time. The organ played an inceasingly important role in French sacred music, and the concert will feature James Orford as soloist on the St Luke's organ, playing some fiendish and exciting accompaniments as well as solos.
The programme includes extracts from Masses by Vierne, Poulenc, Widor and Langlais, as well as motets by Duruflé and Poulenc, and the well-known Cantique de Jean Racine, and Berceuse from the Dolly Suite by Faure.
The concert starts at 7.30pm
Tickets are £15 (£7 Students) from Sevenoaks Bookshop (personal callers only, cash and cheque please), or by phone from 01732 457826, or online from Ticketsource.co.uk or at the door on the night
