Sheffield Skeptics in the Pub
Sheffield Skeptics in the Pub was founded in December 2009 and is a good way for people from all walks of life to hear from experts and discuss with them important issues that affect us all, while enjoying their favourite beverage. Meetings are held every third Monday of the month at Farm Road Sports & Social Club, Farm Road, Sheffield S2 2TP from 7.30 pm. There is no need to book and no entrance fee, but a voluntary donation of £3 is welcome to cover speaker's expenses and room hire. Parking is free.
Our May 2024 event is a presentation by David Daniels, a co-founder and CEO of Future Greens. His presentation is entitled Circular Vertical Farming: Closing the loop in food production. ‘Future Greens develops, builds and operates urban vertical farms that grow fresh produce year-round with energy and fertilisers extracted from organic waste. Currently, Future Greens is part of a DEFRA-funded project in collaboration with the University of Sheffield, and operates a VC-funded 250m pilot site in Sheffield that supplies retail with locally grown, pesticide-free baby leaf salad.
Monday May 20th at 7.30 pm. No charge but donations welcome.
