The Ladykillers by Graham Linehan

The Ladykillers (1955) is an Ealing Comedy which starred among others, Alec Guinness, Peter Sellers and Herbert Lom with a cameo role for Frankie Howerd. This 2011 stage adaption by Graham Linehan (best known as the creator of Father Ted) debuted in Liverpool and later moved to the Gielgud in London starring Peter Capaldi where it received rave reviews.
Professor Marcus and his gang of robbers, posing as professional musicians, rent rooms in the home of elderly Mrs Wilberforce to plan their next heist. The villains plot to involve her, unwittingly, in their crime thereby putting her life in danger, but she is more than a match for them. The police are stumped but Mrs Wilberforce becomes wise to their ruse and Marcus concludes there is only one way to keep the old lady quiet! With only her parrot, General Gordon, to help her, Mrs Wilberforce is alone with five desperate men. But who will be forced to face the music? Black comedy at its best.
