About this Event
Django at the Farm
With the Already in Berlin Band.
A tribute to the greats of early jazz.
Straight forward hard-swinging string-led early jazz with London's newest classic jazz band. A drummerless line-up with a collective spirit of music-making reminiscent of music anchored in pre-war jazz styles.
Capturing the spirit of classic jazz pioneers from each side of the Atlantic with a programme of greats from the pens of Armstrong, Bechet and Reinhardt… music from an era when jazz was revolutionary, controversial and very 'hot'.
Fronted by Dave Kelbie of Dime Notes, Django a la Creole and Don Vappie’s Jazz Creole, an unstoppable force on rhythm guitar with a sound described as 'the rhythmic rumbling of a folksy freight train'.
On violin is London Django Collective’s curator, composer, educator and fast becoming a force in Jazz violin, Matt Holborn; Legend of London’s Classic jazz and African scenes guitarist John Kelly; and anchored by bassist Lorenzo Morabito.
