Leader – Sarah Lister is a qualified Hill and Moorland Leader, Edale resident and author or Mountain Walks Kinder Scout.
This starts out as a classic walk on Kinder but then wanders off into the moorland. We might hear the gentle call of the golden plover nearby, or a cuckoo in the distance.
The route climbs quickly and steeply out of Edale on to Grindslow Knoll, winds around to the head of Grindsbrook Clough, then heads east along the edge of the plateau and follows the second arm of Grinds Brook into the moorland, visiting the remains of a small stone cabin and an aircraft site at Wove Hill.
It then crosses the plateau to Seal Stones boulders on the northern edge of Kinder Scout and works east to the head of Blackden Brook before a second (shorter) plateau crossing and a descent into Edale via The Nab.
Your leader, Sarah Lister, will encourage a sensory experience during this walk. We will look at the moorland textures of boulders and plants, enjoy the peacefulness of the landscape and see if we can spot any wildlife. Bring along a sketchbook, notepad and/or camera to capture your experience.
A weather forecast, parking information and a recommended walking kit list will be provided a few days ahead of the walk. Please email sarah@sarahventurer if you have any questions.
