Britain's What's On Event Guide
Open Gardens in Thornton (nr Markfield)
What better way to spend a summer Sunday afternoon than wondering around beautiful gardens?
At Thornton (nr Markfield) there are a dozen gardens to visit, refreshments, stalls and other attractions around the village
*Cakes and teas on sale at the community centre
* St Peter's Church open
* dogs on leads welcome at many of the garden
Organised by Friends of St Peter's and supported by The Garden Design Company to raise funds for the maintenance of our historic ancient church.
Accessibility: It should be noted that Thornton is a ridge village and so many of the gardens are on slopes or are terraced and are therefore not ideal for those in wheelchairs or with impaired mobility . Some of the pavements are also narrow. We have done our best to indicate on the programme which gardens are more suitable and can be enjoyed, but the geography of the location is not helpful.
1-6pm
Admission is by programme @ £3 per person (accompanied children free), available from Thornton Nurseries, The Bricklayers Arms, The Corner Shop. St Peter's Church, all participating gardens and the Community Centre LE67 1AH (some parking).
