Britain's What's On Event Guide
Kings for Life (Drawing)
Kings for Life (Drawing) is a life drawing workshop designed to give Drag Kings/Things a platform to model and artists a chance to experience and draw more drag. This unique life drawing class will focus on the art of drag, especially costume and make-up, rather than the nude body.
The class model will be Drag performer Manique Episode, who is, in their own words, a “confusing but lovable Italian drag king who loves making people laugh, whether it’s at them or with them”. You can find out more about Manique here.
The workshop will be led by Matt David, a Scottish queer artist whose work developed from archival practices, exploring cyanotypes and combining mediums with this technique. Matt’s work focuses on exploring queerness within symbolism, sexuality and expression. It has been essential for Matt to create work that tackles themes they surround themselves with and challenge. This ranges from HIV stigma to objectification of queer bodies.
We can provide drawing boards and a selection of basic drawing materials. You are more than welcome to take your kit with you. Please note: only dry materials are allowed in the galleries.
