Middle Wallop & Andover Military Wives Choir
Middle Wallop & Andover Military Wives Choir started life as Middle Wallop MWC in April 2012, under the direction of Fiona ‘Dizzy’ Evans. In Summer 2012, the choir took part in the recording of the second MWC album Stronger Together and the accompanying video, which was the first of many exciting collaborations with ladies from choirs across the expanding network. Members of the choir were privileged to feature in the 2012 Queen’s Speech and a special centenary Prom in 2014 to mark 100 years since the start of World War I, as well as an Armed Forces Day Loose Women special.
Our current musical director, Alice Wratten, took the helm in 2015 and has taken the choir from strength to strength. During this time, the choir has been involved in many memorable events, including a further album recording (2018’s Remember); two cathedral tours; an appearance at the Canadian International Military Tattoo in Hamilton, Ontario; a tour date with Lulu and a charity gala at London’s Dorchester Hotel. It is, however, the local community engagements which perhaps mean the most to the choir. Remembrance events at Middle Wallop; Christmas concerts in Andover and local village fêtes have become well-loved annual fixtures in the choir’s calendar.
The choir is made up of veterans, serving service personnel, partners and daughters, and membership is constantly evolving as ladies come and go with military postings, sometimes returning two or three times in their career! As our motto Sing, Share, Support suggests, we are united by the simple act of coming together each week to experience the power and joy of singing in a group of women with a common bond.
This concert will also feature the 2025 Andover Music Club AGM.
