A Telemann Celebration
Bootham Baroque present:
A Telemann Celebration
A varied tea-time selection of vocal and instrumental music … and cake.
3pm on Saturday August 31st in St Denys’ Church, off Walmgate, York
We follow the pattern of Telemann’s series of concerts in 1720s Hamburg, by mixing sacred and secular pieces: two beautiful cantatas for voice and instruments, on the resurrection, and the challenge of parenthood; a cello sonata, a trio and quartet with flute and violin; an operatic aria and duet on the theme of faithful love. Refreshments and cake will be served in the interval.
Telemann's own concerts in 1720s Hamburg mixed sacred and secular pieces, and we follow his excellent example. Two beautiful cantatas for voice and instruments speak not only of the resurrection, but also the challenge of parenthood. Our instrumentalists bring you a cello sonata, a trio and a quartet with flute and violin, and our sopranos offer an operatic aria and duet on the theme of faithful love. Refreshments and cake will be served in the interval.
