Queen
As ‘An Evening with Queen Victoria’, the play was a world-wide success for 28 years for Prunella Scales, who now features in recently-recorded voiceover made for this adaptation.
Written entirely in Victoria’s own words, ‘Queen’ is a rare and humorous prism through which insights into the modern monarchy – its struggles with self-worth, illness, family strife and wily politicians – can be seen with the benefit of hindsight.
Produced by The Chronicles of Ikaro in Association with Cahoots Theatre Company, Queen stars Sara Crowe, Grace Darling and the voice of Prunella Scales.
Written by Katrina Hendrey, adapted by Julian Machin and directed by Denise Silvey.
This show plays for two previews at the Tabard, prior to its run at the Assembly Rooms at the Edinburgh Festival. It then returns to the Tabard for full performances from September.
