Animal Farm

The Worcester Repertory Company presents George Orwell's
ANIMAL FARM
Adapted by Ian Wooldridge

If you had complete power over others, what kind of leader would you be?

After living under Mr. Jones’ cruel leadership, the underfed and overworked animals of Manor Farm lead a rebellion! With oinks, neighs, and barks of joy, they celebrate their newfound freedom and begin to instil their vision of a place where equality and justice reign supreme; a place named ‘Animal Farm’. However, when pigs Napoleon and Snowball see an opportunity to take control of the newly liberated animals, the balance of power slowly begins to tip in their favour, distorting the picturesque vision they once believed in.

The pigs set their comrades on a path of turmoil, death and despair and before long the other animals begin to understand that their dream of a ‘utopia’ has been twisted into a nightmare. They are all equals, but some are more equal than others…

Orwell’s critical satire feels particularly poignant today, and his message of those in power manipulating democratic idealism hits home in this chilling adaptation. The Worcester Repertory Company are compelled to bring this hard-hitting retelling of a timeless classic to audiences this October.
